One of the many things that Steve Chandler taught me was the incremental approach to change. He learned this from Dr Nathaniel Brandon, who greatly influenced his life. (I highly recommend his book Taking Responsibility, which will be part of the curriculum for my upcoming coaching school)
This incremental approach, if applied consistently, compounds into massive changes over a shorter timeframe than people think. It is helpful to understand and apply this to any area of life. People fail to make the changes they want because they often try to change too much too soon.
If you are a coach, you can apply this step-by-step approach to your business, your fees or the number of conversations you have. You can use this approach in any aspect of your coaching practice you want to change.
However, you can also help your clients make massive changes by taking consistent, manageable action. You don’t need to eat “impossible” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Instead, start with what you CAN do and keep doing it consistently. This leads to the change being sustainable over the long-term.
My clients Peter McCammon is one of the best examples of a coach who has applied this approach consistently with great results. Deryl Sweeney is another example of taking this approach to build a sustainable and ethical coaching practice but also making huge changes in his fitness and relationships.
Understanding the importance 5% makes in a person’s life and really putting it into practise while maintaining a positive outlook can spark significant changes in our lives.
P.S.: If you want to join a school that will help you make the changes you want in your coaching practice without you having to make huge leaps of faith, send me a message.
