Many years ago, I started a little side project with Henk Kok and Cory Stephen called the Relationship Series podcast. I interviewed “3 Principles” based coaches, teachers, mentors and therapists on the topic of relationships. It was great fun, I learned a lot, and I got some incredible feedback from the episodes.
However, I considered this my passion project—something that I enjoyed and did on the side, not something that I considered would create clients. I told myself it was my way of giving back to the world.
I was surprised when my coach at the time, Steve Chandler, told me he was using some of the episodes to create clients for himself. It was a lesson I would never forget. Coaches will sometimes wrongly assume that if they share a book, video or podcast from another coach, clients will hire the author or creator of that resource.
This is not my experience. I know several coaches who use my book, Sweet Sharing – Rediscovering the REAL You, to gift to clients and prospective clients. This always leads the client to thank the person who gifted them the book.
I encourage coaches to share resources with people before they turn into paying clients. Everyone wins. This is one of the many things I share with clients in the AJC Coaching Career School (let me know if you want the brochure which contains many helpful resources for coaches).
AND do share your favourite resources that you share with your clients in the comments below.
With love and appreciation,
