I’ve worked with Steve Chandler as my business coach for about eight and a half years. He’s had a phenomenal impact on my life and my business. In fact, that is a huge understatement. I never anticipated working with him for so long. Of course, we both evolved over that time period and he is a different coach now than back in 2014, but when I look back through my notes of our coaching sessions, a lot of the content is very similar.
So you might be wondering if the content is the same or similar, why work with him for so long?
Well, it’s because I don’t only pay him only for information. Sure, information is part of the service, but the main thing I’m paying him for is transformation, specifically transformation in my business and income, which means applying the information in a real-life situation.
In my coaching practice, one of the best ways I found to do this is through what Steve calls running game film. This is taken from the world of American sports, where a sports team will watch the video of a game they just played to see what they could do differently next time, to improve and to learn.
In the same way, whilst I don’t sit down and listen to my coaching conversations with Steve, we run “game film” through me talking about a conversation I may have had with a prospective client and what I might have been able to do differently next time. Of course, this is done whilst maintaining confidentiality.
It is through those conversations that so much depth has been revealed behind the information I was introduced to a decade ago in the book The Prosperous Coach. There are nuances and subtleties that have helped me get a deeper grasp and understanding of enrollment and helped me to be a better coach.
This is one of the reasons why in my AJC Coaching Career School, everybody gets a 30-minute coaching session with me, which is recorded and shared in our private Facebook group.
What I found is not only does the person who gets coached benefit from this, but everyone who listens to it always take something away from the conversation. Because it’s when we get into the detail and the specifics of the challenge, problem or issue that we start applying what service and client astonishment mean in the real world. In the last school, coaches found this invaluable. If you have a business coach, I highly encourage you to use this “game film” process to take your coaching business to the next level.
With love and appreciation,
